Asthma PolicyWhen joining Wild Monkeys Childcare Ltd, parents/carers will be asked to advise Wild Monkeys Childcare Ltd of any medical conditions their child may have, including asthma. If a child is diagnosed with asthma or suspected asthma during their time at Wild Monkeys Childcare Ltd, parents/carers should tell the manager immediately. If a child requires medication for their asthma, parents/carers will be required to fill in our Long-Term Medication form.
Asthma medication will be stored in a labelled container out of reach of children, but accessible to staff. Asthma medication will be administered according to the child’s needs and information provided by parents/carers. All administered medication will be recorded in accordance with our Administering Medication Policy. If a child uses a rescue inhaler, and this is administered during the day, the parent or carer will be informed of this on collection. In the event of an asthma attack which is not helped by medication, we will always contact parents/carers and emergency services. Staff will be made aware of children with asthma, and this will also be indicated on the daily attendance sheets. The majority of our staff have completed asthma training.
