CCTV PolicyAt our Wild Monkeys, we use CCTV systems to monitor the outside of the building, the garden, and within the nursery. This is in place for the safety and security of staff and children. This policy outlines how we handle the use of CCTV and recordings.
Locations CCTV cameras are visible and located externally and internally, monitoring both floors of the building and the front and back gardens. CCTV cameras do not display private areas like bathrooms or nappy changing areas. We use two different types of CCTV camera. Monitoring The CCTV system is accessible from the manager’s smartphone and computer. These are both password-protected and are only used by the manager or a nominated individual. Footage is only accessed when necessary. Access Access to live or recorded footage taken during nursery hours will be restricted to staff members and relevant law enforcement or other organisations (as legally required). The Manager & Owner is the only staff members who is always permitted to access live or recorded footage alone. Other staff members nominated by the manager may be permitted to access footage on her behalf, e.g. administrative staff. Other staff members may view footage as necessary for events or incidents in which they are involved. In this case, they will always be accompanied by a manager or deputy manager. Data Storage & Control The installed CCTV system will store up to 14 days worth of 24/7 footage on a hard drive. This hard drive will be kept in the setting. Access to the hard drive will be restricted in accordance with the above rules on access. The Ring CCTV system will store up to 30 days worth of footage. This is stored in the cloud and managed by Ring. It can only be accessed by logging into the owner’s Ring account, which is password-protected. If necessary, the police or organisations such as Ofsted may request information in order to help with an ongoing investigation. We will provide footage where we are legally required to do so. We will NOT: ● Post identifiable footage online
Exceptions may apply where legally required – for example, if we provided footage to law enforcement, which was then shared by law enforcement as part of their investigation. Further information about how we handle personal data and our compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) can be found in our Data Protection Policy and our Privacy Notice. Subject Access Requests Under the terms of the GDPR, individuals have a right to request data held about them. If you wish to view footage of yourself, please follow the procedure outlined in our Privacy Notice and our Data Protection Policy. Please be aware that we may not be able to provide footage which includes other people or other people’s children.
