about our nature nursery

We provide care from our wonderful setting near Peacehaven Sports Park (The Big Park) with a team of established, highly qualified and experienced nursery practitioners. We are based in The Hub building, which is a community space dedicated to providing services that help the community. All of us at Wild Monkeys are thrilled to be a part of the Nature Nursery and aim to provide the best service available.
We have a fully enclosed garden with plenty of play opportunities for the children. We are based a few minutes walk from the A259 and local bus routes such as the 12 and 14 services. We are registered to care for approximately 40 children ranging from 2 to 5 years at any one time. The ratios are 1 adult to 5 children for 2 to 3 year olds, and 1 adult to 8 children for over 3s. We will usually have more practitioners than legally required, as we feel that this benefits our children far more. The care we give in our setting is extremely important to us and we treat all the children equally and as part of our Wild Monkeys family. |

Nature Nurseries are a way of giving children in their early years the opportunity to learn and develop in a natural environment, sparking their natural motivations to explore, create and be curious about the world around them.
Like our sister nursery Wild Monkeys Childcare, our Nature Nursery follows the same Forest School ethos.
So, what is a Nature Nursery?
A Nature Nursery is a way of giving children in their early years the opportunity to learn and develop in a natural environment, sparking their natural motivations to explore, create and be curious about the world around them. Essentially we deliver a nature-based, child-led learning experience, come rain or shine, letting children get hands-on with nature and the natural environment.
At Wild Monkeys, our main Nature sessions happen several times per week, spread out to make sure that as many children as possible can take part in sessions, which is why we ask parents to always send their children in with suitable clothing for the weather!
What does my child gain from Nature Nursery?
Nature Nurseries encourage children to work together, helping them to develop their social skills and their communication & language skills. It also helps their fine and gross motor skills.
Being outside improves mental and physical health, communication, and social relationships – and more. Today, only 21% of children in the UK regularly play outside! Nature Nursery encourages children to enjoy being outdoors, and lets them teach themselves how to create their own play and learning opportunities, important skills for childhood and adulthood.
How does Wild Monkeys offer their Nature School provision?
Due to our location setting, we are extremely lucky to be only a few minutes from a nature reserve, large field with open space, trees and wildlife, horses that we visit, the community park and the downs.
When not out in nature our children will have access to the garden every day, no matter the weather, and we encourage all of our children to spend time outside every day.
