£3.50 per meal per child
All the children we care for are offered healthy, great-tasting, homemade meals. Our Food Co-ordinator, Nicky, creates our seasonal menus to meet nutritional guidelines and taste great.
The meals we provide are made in house by the staff and follow strict food hygiene guidelines. We make sure to provide suitable food for children with allergies and/or special dietary requirements. Water is always available and we offer milk at snack times. We also have a meatfree day at least once per week, and a vegetarian dinner option every day.
Our menus are done on a three-week rota.
Snacks and drinks are included in the hourly rate.
Please be aware that, due to severe allergies, we are a PEANUT FREE SETTING. This means that we do not serve meals containing peanuts, and we ask that parents do not include products in lunchboxes that are labelled as containing peanuts (this will usually be in bold on the ingredients list). Any products in lunchboxes which contain peanuts will be sent home with a note. Thank you for your understanding!
In 2019, we signed up to the HALO Excellence Award programme run by East Sussex County Council, and throughout 2020 we have been working towards gaining our HALO Excellence Award. This has included things like improving our menus, providing training on healthy eating and physical activity for staff, and more!
We also grow our own fruit and veg as part of our Forest School provision - we grow a wide variety depending on the season, and we always get the children involved in growing their own food. We've found that growing their own food can really encourage children to eat more fruit and veg!
